PHO BO (MICHELIN RECOMMENDED & GLUTEN FREE)
If you're on the hunt for a bowl of pho that will take you on a culinary journey through Vietnam, Obao in New York City is where you need to go. This restaurant is a hidden gem located in the heart of Hell's Kitchen and is a must-visit for any food lover looking for a true taste of Vietnam. From the moment you step inside, you'll be transported to a place of warmth and hospitality. The decor is understated yet inviting, with a mix of modern and traditional Vietnamese elements that combine to create a truly authentic atmosphere. The scent of spices and fresh herbs wafts through the air, and you can feel your mouth starting to water with anticipation. Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the pho. Obao's pho is simply sensational. The broth is rich and flavorful, with the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and umami flavors. It's clear that the chefs at Obao use only the finest ingredients, as the broth is full of complex layers that unfold with each sip. You can taste the sweetness of the onions, the earthiness of the star anise, and the subtle heat of the chilies. The beef in the pho is also worth mentioning. It's tender and juicy, with a texture that practically melts in your mouth. You can tell that the beef has been cooked with care and attention to detail. The noodles are perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of chewiness to balance out the richness of the broth. But what really sets Obao's pho apart is the abundance of fresh herbs and vegetables that come with each bowl. Thai basil, bean sprouts, lime, and jalapeno peppers are just a few of the toppings that you can add to your pho to make it your own. The combination of flavors and textures is out of this world, and you'll find yourself savoring every bite. And the best part? The portion sizes at Obao are generous, so you won't leave feeling hungry. If you're feeling adventurous, be sure to try some of the other dishes on the menu as well. The spring rolls, banh mi, and papaya salad are all outstanding. In conclusion, if you're looking for a pho experience that will leave you feeling satisfied and invigorated, look no further than Obao in New York City. The combination of rich broth, tender beef, and fresh herbs and vegetables is simply irresistible. And with a cozy atmosphere and attentive service, you'll leave feeling like you've been transported to the heart of Vietnam.
SPARE RIBS WITH HONEY TAMARIND GLAZE
Excelent service. The food was incredible!! Outstanding flavor: the spare ribs with honey tamarind and the kao soi with crispy duck leg confit. The pho bo was really good also. The drinks were delish
PAD SEE IEW
The Pad See Iew at OBAO was incredible. My group all ordered drinks and every single cocktail was not only aesthetically pleasing, but they also tasted amazing. The service and food quality are very much the price, and you cannot go wrong ordering here.
PHO GA
The chicken was soo tender and just fell off the bone. I was skeptical at first, but it was amazing.
CRISPY PORK BELLY PAD KAPROW (SPICY)
Excellent service and delicious food as always. We first came here just under 2 years ago after moving to NY. Every time we have people visit we take them there and it never disappoints. Even our most recent visit our friends that we took here last year requested we go again in their trip back to NY. Definitely a must try while in NYC and great value for money too.
CRAB FRIED RICE (GLUTEN FREE)
Crab fried rice was incredibly flavorful! Everyone at our table loved this dish!
